Arriving at the Yodt Phair Primary School grounds. Our preschools are built on land adjacent to the primary school in nearly every village we built in.
Location of the preschool above. The primary school and village meeting hall (and temporary preschool) are below.
Village leader, Provincial and District Education and Sports Department staff, school principal, builder and Give Children A Choice discuss every detail of the construction.
Agreements are documented and signed by all present.
GCAC’s Thongchanh takes an early morning picture. It’s cold in Yodt Phair.
Builder Mr. Keomanyvanh carefully marks and measures the school footprint.
The entire preschool footprint is marked. The morning mist burns off quickly.
Yodt Phair villagers join in to dig the holes for the school foundation and pillars …
… under Mr. Keomanyvanh’s guidance.
Thongchanh pitches in.
The Yodt Phair villagers donated about 10% of the school construction costs (in kind and the provisioning of aggregate, sand, etc.), as all of Give Children A Choice’s schools.
They never forget the sweat equity they contributed and causes them to take care of their preschool.
Young Mr. Yang joins the village workers and digs one of the pillars foundation.
Supplies are delivered to the jobsite. Rebar wire strengthens the cement for the foundation, floors, pillars and ceiling joists.
Check back soon for the next update on the construction progress.
